The stabilizer sleeve is one of the important accessories of the downhole motor, mainly used to support and align the transmission shaft of the drill, ensuring its stable operation during the drilling process.
When the downhole motor is in operation, the transmission shaft rotates at high speed driven by the drilling fluid and simultaneously bears various forces transmitted by the drill bit, including axial force, radial force, etc. The stabilizer sleeve is mounted on the drive shaft. By cooperating with the outer shell or other fixed components, it restricts the radial displacement of the drive shaft, keeping it rotating at the center position. This reduces the wear and vibration of the drive shaft and ensures the normal operation of the downhole motor.
The stabilizer sleeve (HT4000) is usually composed of a static stabilizer sleeve and a moving stabilizer sleeve. The centering actuator is located outside the drive shaft and rotates along with it. The upright static sleeve is installed inside the shell, and the mating surfaces of the two form a rotary mating surface. To better adapt to the force deformation of the transmission shaft, the slewing mating surface is usually designed in a special shape, such as a semi-drum shape with a larger top and a smaller bottom formed by arcs or smooth connected curves as the generatrix. This design enables the centering moving sleeve and the centering static sleeve to still maintain surface contact when the transmission shaft deflates, expanding the working surface of the centering bearing and reducing local wear.
As the stabilizer sleeve (HT4000) operates in the harsh drilling environment and needs to withstand high temperatures, high pressures, wear and corrosion, it is usually made of wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials, such as alloy steel and hard alloy. To further enhance the wear resistance, a wear-resistant alloy layer will also be sprayed or inlaid on the surface of the stabilizer sleeve.
The stabilizer sleeve is generally installed on the transmission shaft of the downhole motor. Multiple sets can be set as needed. Usually, a lower stabilizer sleeve is set at the end close to the drill bit to withstand the main radial force transmitted by the drill bit. An upper stabilizer sleeve may also be installed in the middle or upper part of the downhole motor to further enhance the stability of the transmission shaft.
Firstly, the stabilizer sleeve (HT4000) enhances the service life of the downhole motor. By reducing the wear and vibration of the transmission shaft, it lowers the probability of component damage and extends the overall service life of the drill.
Secondly, it can ensure the quality of drilling, keep the drill bit in a stable working condition, reduce well deviation and azimuth deviation, and improve the quality of the wellbore.
Thirdly, it can enhance drilling efficiency. Stable operation of drilling tools can reduce the downtime due to faults during the drilling process, increase the drilling speed and lower the drilling cost.
