Introduction of Hydraulic Cylinder Assembly

I. Structure and Functions.

The hydraulic cylinder assembly, also known as the valve box, is a chamber structure that accommodates components such as the cylinder liner, piston, suction valve, and discharge valve. During operation, the piston reciprocates within the cylinder liner, causing changes in the size of the hydraulic cylinder cavity to create a vacuum or pressure. This action opens the suction or discharge valve, enabling the intake and discharge of drilling fluid.

II. Materials and Processing.

1. Material Selection: Generally, corrosion-resistant and high-strength alloy steel forgings, such as 35CrMo and 40CrMnMo, are used. After quenching and tempering treatment, they possess properties such as tensile strength and wear resistance.

2. Machining Requirements: The machining process must strictly comply with the API 7K standard. The components require heat treatment and internal hardening. Key areas such as the conical surfaces of the suction and discharge valve seats must meet high machining precision requirements and undergo rigorous non-destructive testing.

3. Surface Treatment: To further enhance the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of hydraulic cylinders, some cylinders undergo surface treatment. For instance, electroless nickel plating can form a protective film on the cylinder surface, making it more resistant to the erosive environment of slurry.

III. Performance Features.

The hydraulic cylinder assembly typically withstands high pressure, generally capable of handling a working pressure of around 31MPa. Its internal surfaces are precision-machined with excellent smoothness, which reduces slurry flow resistance and enhances the volumetric efficiency and overall operational stability of the slurry pump.
