Introduction of Cylinder Liner Gland

1. Functions: The cylinder liner gland is installed on the rear side of the hydraulic cylinder to secure the cylinder liner. It is fastened to the hydraulic cylinder via the cylinder liner flange. The gland pressurizes the cylinder liner through its end to ensure stability during the operation of the mud pump, thereby guaranteeing normal pump performance.

2. Structures: The traditional cylinder liner gland structure is relatively simple, primarily consisting of a disc-shaped component with internal or external threads. It is secured by engaging with the cylinder liner flange via threads. In contrast, some newer cylinder liner glands feature more complex designs, such as external threads on the axial front end of the gland body and a large-diameter external gear ring on the axial rear end. These designs enable axial rotation for insertion and removal of the gland by meshing with the gear shaft, facilitating quick assembly and disassembly of the cylinder liner.

3. Materials: The cylinder liner gland is generally forged and processed from alloy steel such as 35CrMo, with its blank being a precision cast ZG35CrMo. After quenching and tempering treatment, it achieves a hardness of HB215-255, featuring high strength, wear resistance, and excellent toughness, enabling it to withstand the high pressure and impact during mud pump operation.

4. Maintenance: During the operation of the mud pump, the cylinder liner gland should be inspected regularly. Check whether the threads of the cylinder liner gland are damaged or worn, and whether the connection with the cylinder liner flange is secure. Any issues should be addressed promptly. For the new cylinder liner glands with gear transmission, the meshing condition of the gears must also be inspected to ensure smooth transmission.
