Introduction of Piston Rod

1. Functions: The large end of the piston rod is connected to the power end of the mud pump through a clamp, transmitting power; Install a piston at the small end and perform reciprocating linear motion inside the cylinder liner to push the piston to do work, thereby generating pressure and achieving the suction and discharge of mud.

2. Structural characteristics: The piston rod is generally a slender shaft structure, usually designed with a stepped shaft with one end thick and one end thin. The thick end is used to connect with the extension rod, and the thin end is used to install the piston. The surface roughness requirement is Ra0.4-0.8um, and the coaxiality requirement is also very strict.

3. Connection methods: Common connection methods for piston rods include clamp connection and threaded connection. Clamp connection is to fix the large end of the piston rod with the extension rod through a clamp. This method is easy to disassemble and has a wide range of applications; Threaded connection is the process of machining threads at the end of the piston rod and directly screwing it into the piston or extension rod.

4. Material and surface treatment: The material of the piston rod is usually high-strength alloy steel such as 42CrMo. After forging and heat treatment, its strength and toughness are improved. In order to improve wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance, the surface will be treated with galvanizing, nickel plating, or hard chromium plating.
