Detection Methods for Oil Casing Pipe

Ultrasonic testing of oil casing pipe


When ultrasonic waves propagate in the detected material, the acoustic characteristics of the steel material and the changes in the internal structure have a certain impact on the propagation of ultrasonic waves. By detecting the degree and condition of the impact of ultrasonic waves, the changes in material performance and structure can be understood.


Radiographic testing of oil casing pipe


Radiographic testing uses the difference in the amount of radiation passing through normal and defective locations to cause differences in the blackness on the film.


Penetrant testing of oil casing pipe


Penetrant testing uses the capillary action of liquid to penetrate the opening defects on the surface of solid materials, and then uses the imaging agent to draw the penetrated penetrant to the surface to show the existence of defects.


Penetrant testing is suitable for various metal and ceramic workpieces, and the time from penetration operation to defect display is relatively short, generally about half an hour, and it can detect surface fatigue, stress corrosion, and welding cracks, and can directly measure the size of cracks.

Magnetic particle testing uses magnetic flux leakage at the defect site to adsorb magnetic powder and form a magnetic trace to provide defect display. It can detect surface and subsurface defects, the defect properties are easy to identify, and the sensitivity of detection is not affected by paint or electroplating surfaces.

Eddy current testing mainly uses the eddy current generated by the ferromagnetic coil in the workpiece to analyze the quality of the internal quality of the workpiece. It can detect surface and near-surface defects of various conductive materials, but the parameter control is difficult, and the test result is difficult to explain. It also requires that the detection object must be a conductive crack, and the defect length can be indirectly measured.
