What Factors Need to Be Considered when Designing a Flat Gate Valve?

Ⅰ. What factors should be considered when designing a flat gate valve?


The flat gate valve is a kind of gate-to-valve seat pressure controlled by the medium pressure acting on the floating gate or floating valve seat. If it is a flat gate valve with double gates, the expansion mechanism between the two gates can supplement this pressure.


The flat gate valve can be divided into manual flat gate valve, pneumatic flat gate valve and electric flat gate valve according to the driving method. It can be divided into flat gate valve with diversion hole, flat gate valve without diversion hole, flat gate valve for oil field, flat gate valve for pipeline and flat gate valve for gas.


1. The flat gate valve adopts floating seat, two-way opening and closing, reliable sealing and flexible opening and closing.


2. When closing the valve, turn the handwheel clockwise, and the gate moves down to the bottom. Due to the action of the medium pressure, the sealing seat at the inlet end is pushed towards the gate, forming a larger sealing specific pressure, thereby forming a seal. At the same time, the pressure head is pressed in On the sealing seat at the outlet end, a double seal is formed.


3. The flat gate valve is precisely guided by the guide strip, and the sealing surface is spray-welded with corrosion-resistant hard alloy.


4. The valve body has high bearing capacity and the channel is straight. When the flat gate valve is fully opened, it is similar to a straight pipe, and the flow resistance is very small. The valve stem adopts compound packing and multiple seals, which is reliable in sealing and low in friction.


5. When opening the shutter, turn the handwheel counterclockwise to make the diversion hole communicate with the passage hole. As the gate rises, the passage hole gradually increases, and when it reaches the position, the diversion hole coincides with the passage hole and is fully opened.


6. The flat gate valve adopts double sealing, which can replace the wearing parts without affecting the pipeline work.


Ⅱ. What quality requirements must be followed for the selection of flat gate valves?


1. The transportation pipeline and storage equipment of refined oil should use a single-door or double-door flat gate valve without diversion holes.


2. For oil and natural gas transmission pipelines, choose a flat gate valve with a single gate or a double gate. If the pipeline needs to be cleaned, a rising stem flat gate valve with a diversion hole on the single gate or double gate should be selected.


3. Urban gas pipelines should use single gate valve or double gate soft-sealed rising stem flat gate valve.


4. The urban tap water project selects a flat gate valve with a single gate or a double gate and no diversion hole.


5. Oil and natural gas production wellhead equipment adopts single flat gate valve or double gate valve, with floating valve seat and diversion hole, most of which are API16A grade, and the pressure grade is API2000, API3000, API5000, API10000, API15000, API20000.


6. For pipelines containing suspended particulate media, knife-type flat gate valves should be selected.


Ⅲ. What are the daily maintenance methods for the flat gate valve?


1. The flat gate valve should prevent sediment from entering the rotating parts of the flat valve plate.


2. If the medium conveyed by the pipeline contains a large amount of impurities, the impurities should be regularly removed from the relief plug or small relief valve of the valve.


3. The flat gate valve should be stored in a dry room and should not be stored in the open air to prevent damage or corrosion.


4. When the valve plate is not used frequently (no more than 10 times a month), the sealing grease can be filled every two months, and the gate can be opened and closed at least once.


5. Add lubricating oil from the stem sleeve window, packing gland and flat gate valve nozzle quarterly to prevent parts from rusting.


6. After the flat gate valve is rinsed with water, the rotating part should be oiled to prevent rust; the paint should be replenished in time to prevent corrosion.
