Precautions for the Use of Choke Valve

1. What are the precautions for using the choke valve?


(1) Some products at the inlet and outlet of the choke valve can be exchanged arbitrarily, and some products cannot. When the choke valve is used specifically, it should be connected to the hydraulic system according to the product instructions.


(2) The choke valve should not work at a small opening, otherwise it is easy to block and cause the actuator to crawl.


(3) The stroke choke valve and the one-way stroke choke valve should be fixed on the machined base surface of the stroke block path with screws, and the installation direction can be determined according to the needs; the stroke and inclination of the block or cam should be determined according to the product description and should not be too large.


(4) The opening of the choke valve should be adjusted according to the speed requirements of the actuator, and it should be locked after being adjusted to prevent loosening and changing the opening of the adjusted choke.


(5) The rigidity of the choke valve indicates the ability to resist the interference of negative changes and maintain a stable flow.


(6) When the opening of the choke valve remains unchanged, the flow through the adjustable choke valve changes due to the change of the pressure difference between the front and rear of the valve. The smaller the flow change, the greater the rigidity of the choke valve, and vice versa.


(7) For the same choke valve, if the pressure difference between the front and rear of the valve is the same and the choke opening is small, then the rigidity is large; for the same choke valve, when the choke opening is constant, the smaller the pressure difference between the front and rear of the valve, the lower the rigidity.


In order to ensure that the choke valve has sufficient rigidity, the choke valve can only work normally under the condition of a certain minimum pressure difference, because increasing the pressure difference will cause an increase in pressure loss.


2. Common faults of the choke valve


(1) The failure of flow adjustment


Reason: seal failure, spring failure, oil pollution, which cause the valve element to be stuck.


Remedy: disassemble or replace the sealing device, disassemble or replace the spring, disassemble and clean the choke valve or change the oil.


(2) The flow is unstable


Reasons: loose locking device, blocked chock, excessive internal leakage, high oil temperature, and excessive load pressure change.


Remedy: lock the adjusting screw, disassemble and wash the choke valve, disassemble and inspect or replace the valve element and seal, reduce the oil temperature, and try to keep the load unchanged or less changed.


(3) The stroke choke valve cannot be depressed or reset


Reason: the valve element is blocked or the oil drain port is blocked, which causes the reaction force of valve element to be too large and the spring to fail.


Remedy: dismantle or replace the valve element, reduce the oil temperature and reduce the back pressure of the oil drain, check and replace the spring.
